We have hit a new low in Manhasset when neighbors allow their children to behave rudely; jeering and shouting as they shatter the evening stillness of North Strathmore. These sons and daughters behaved most ungraciously in their parents' silent - and I assume sanctioning - presence. Sadly, that is what I witnessed, as my home was invaded by the voices of "full of themselves" children, after years of being battered by their batted balls.
A responding police officer had remarked earlier that it was miraculous no windows had been broken after I exhibited a bucket brimming with retrieved balls. If their parents read this letter, I hope they'll know who they are and make some disciplinary adjustments in their household before the children's jeers they have so deftly ignored are directed at themselves.
