On Memorial Day, as I was walking home down Plandome Road after our wonderful parade, I happened to see the owner of TCBY as he was earnestly working on finishing construction in his new location. Since I had been hearing constant rumors about a fast food chain accompanying TCBY in this location, I asked if this was true and was told by the owner that it wasn't true.
Now, TCBY has opened and low and behold we have a Blimpies sharing the location. First and foremost, I resent being lied to. And secondly, I would like to know how the community of Manhasset allowed a Blimpies to open, with the big sign in the window "Buy One Get One Free." How and when was approval given?
Why do we feel we need fast food when there are numerous delis to choose from in this community for years? What's going to happen to their businesses? Isn't it enough that we have allowed the opening of Genovese to be a big part in the closing of Nassau Stores (think about it)?
Come on Manhasset, wake up, boycott Blimpies! What's next - Taco Bell?
