Because of the holiday, the deadline for "On the Bay" was Friday morning (7/2), before the availability of some regularly-reported results.

Tenth annual North Shore YC Day Race, 22 entries: Trophies for first and second places in the handicap division will be presented at NSYC's dinner dance in November. They are: Div. 1 (spinnaker): 1-September (Henry O'Connor, New York city), 2-Matriarch (Mary Dominque, NSYC)... Div. II (spinnaker): 1 - B-Line (Mark Corbisero, NSYC), 2-Real Macaw (Sidney Lewitt, Ridgefield NJ)... Div III (non-spinnaker): 1 - Allong-YO )Winthrop Parker, Huquenot and Glen Island YC), 2 Vision (Mark Epstein, NSYC)... Div II (two-handed non-spinnaker): 1 Avanlanche (Al Albrecht, PWYC), 2 Sundance (Joel Ziev, NSYC).

The Law Trophy was competed for at Indian Harbor Yacht Club. This was an event for which sailors have to qualify. Doug Morea took 4th place in the Laser class and Jason Hill 10th. There were 12 competitors.

More about Doug: with Max Hazan, he repaired an old catamaran during last winter. Last weekend in 20-knot breezes, they sailed it for the first time. It is reliably reported that they "flew" around the bay.

Block Island Race Week - unofficial reports about familiar people:

Rich de Moulin's Lora Ann (Express 37) with faithful crew of many years, among them John Browning, Steve Morre, Lee Reichart ad Chris reyling plus Peter Rugg (who is back in New York) placed sixth among about 14 boats. There were "good and bad races, ups and downs."

John Thomson Jr., racing Solution, won the Farr 40 class. The result served also as part of the Farr 40 Championship series. Local people among the crew were Ralf Steitz and Tony Reaper; others were from out of town.

Sally and Peter Lorson served on the Block Island Race Week Committee. On one of the days, Peter sailed with Jim Miller on the latter's Antipodies, a Santa Cruz 52. Score: 7th out of 12.

Several of the well known local competitors could not compete because of illness.

Block Island Race Week was reported to have been a "huge success" Number of boats: 264. The governor of Rhode Island attended the event.
