We would like to thank board members Angelo Ferrara, Doreen Banks and Tony D'Urso for their courage in voting against Kimco's request for a change of zone at the Manhasset Center. As Terrace Manor residents, it is important to us to keep King Kullen's loading docks away from our neighbors' backyards, but there are also two matters that concern all of Manhasset.

King Kullen's plan to remain open 24 hours a day presents a security issue for all residents. Potential criminals now have an excuse for being in Manhasset at all hours of the night. We simply do not understand King Kullen's need to stay open 24 hours a day. I cannot recall the last time I needed to do my grocery shopping at 2 a.m.

The second problem is obviously a tremendous increase in traffic along Northern Boulevard and Shelter Rock Road. There are already times during the day that Northern Boulevard looks more like Manhattan, with its gridlock intersections and bumper-to-bumper traffic, than Manhasset. A supermarket, which naturally has a high customer rate of return (repeat visits) would drastically aggravate an already horrific situation.

We would like to thank Joe Vogel and Phyllis Clark for all of their efforts in helping to keep Manhasset the very special place that it is for all of us. On Election Day, please remember the board members who supported Terrace Manor (Ferrara, Banks and D'Urso) and those who did not (Newburger and O'Connor).
