Last Sunday, the sixth-grade boys finished their sixth season of Manhasset PAL Lacrosse. What a great tradition this is for Manhasset. Not only did the boys enjoy their introduction into this exciting game, but also they were surrounded by former players who were anxious to pass on the tradition. The Saturday intramural program had the following volunteer coaches: Drew Miller, Jim Cardillo, Frank Bice, Matt Feeney, John Regan, Rich Regan, Chris Salagub, John Morissey and Ken Weigand Jr.
Travel team coaches included Harry Baugher, Spencer Baugher, Chuck McCarthy, Jim Cardillo, Drew Miller and Joe Sciortino. Imagine how excited and motivated 11-year-old boys become when Spencer Baugher, having won three Lacrosse National Championships while at Princeton, demonstrates how it is done.
Finally, where would the program be without the spirit and dedication of Bill Miller? For more than 25 years Bill has kept the program running smoothly. If Manhasset has a lacrosse tradition, Bill is helping to keep it strong. Rich Reichert, director of Manhasset PAL, deserves our thanks for all his efforts behind the scenes. And Jack Cannon, who ran the Saturday intramural program, put in many hours of work to keep it going.
We would like to thank all of them and anyone else who has contributed over the years. We hope these boys will do their part and keep the tradition of Manhasset lacrosse alive for many years to come.

Manhasset Lacrosse Players
On May 31, the Manhasset Boys Lacrosse season came to an end against their rival, the Garden City Trojans, at Hofstra Stadium. The final score of the contest was 10-9 in favor of the Trojans. The players fought through the intense heat on the field and played their hearts out. Although the team lost in the semifinals of the Nassau County Championships, this team should be congratulated on a season to remember. After losing several key players from last year's squad, including three All-Americans, the Indians battled this year to finish in first place in their conference. They boasted one All-American candidate, five All-County players and several All-Conference athletes. This team had eight new starters and still managed to finish with a 14-4 record.
I am writing this letter to make the people of Manhasset aware of the outstanding accomplishments that this team achieved this season. Unfortunately, in several instances this year Newsday seemed to write big articles on Manhasset losses and print only the box scores on their wins. I hope that the people of Manhasset realize the tremendous amount of effort that this team exhibited on the lacrosse field. This is a team that nobody gave a chance to at the beginning of the year and ended up to be one that everyone from the coaches, students of the high school, parents and the community in general should be very proud of.
A Proud Indian Fan
