Agnes G. McCarthy, nee Brennan, died on May 30, 1999, in New Providence, NJ, at the age of 95. She had been a long-ime resident of Manhasset.

A graduate of Hunter College, she was a teacher with the New York City school system for more than 30 years, Mrs. McCarthy also taught the children at St. Francis Hospital's Children's Cardiac School.

In her youth she was a member of the St. Jean the Baptist Choir, Manhattan, and the chorus of the New York Metropolitan Opera from 1924 to 1927.

In Manhasset Mrs. McCarthy was a member of the St. Mary's Legion of Mary, the Rosary Society and the Altar Society. She moved to New Providence in 1992.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, David, and her daughter, Carol M. Cavanagh. She is survived by her son, David P. McCarthy of New Providence, NJ; by her grandchildren, Margaret McCarthy Ahern, Patrick and Shannon McCarthy, Carol Anne Cavanagh Condon, Mary Jean, Ellen, Joy and Robert Cavanagh; and great-grandchildren, Casey, Erin and Edward Condon; and by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's, Manhasset, on Thursday, June 3, with interment following at Holy Rood Cemetery. Contributions in her name to Covenant House, 14 Williams St., Newark, NJ, would be appreciated.

Maria M. Rizzo of East Norwich, formerly of Manhasset, died on June 1, 1999. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Gasper. She is survived by her daughter, Gerri Ayvazian; by her grandchildren, Lisa Broadbent, Van Ayvazian and Michael Ayvazian; by her great-grandson, Ian Gasper Broadbent; her sisters, Dora Alfano, Jean Spinosa and Louise Chirilella and her brother, Albert Garafolo.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Oyster Bay Funeral Home. A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Dominic's Chapel on Saturday, June 5. Donations in her name to Hospice Care Network, 900 Merchants Concourse, Westbury, NY 11590, would be appreciated.

John Jones Todd Jr., a long-time resident of Manhasset, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 1999. He was born and raised in Flushing, NY. John graduated from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA, and earned his master's degree in business administration from New York University. He then obtained his Certified Public Accounting license to practice in both New York and New Jersey.

He married Muriel Walther, also of Flushing, before entering the U. S. Army. John served as a chief warrant officer during World War II, from 1942 to 1946. In 1957 the Todds moved to Manhasset with their two children and resided there for 35 years. In 1978, John and Muriel began dividing their time between their residence in Manhasset and their home on Siesta Key, off the coast of Sarasota, FL. The couple moved there permanently in 1992.

John was a life member of the Kismet Shrine Temple in New Hyde Park, a member of Paumanok, Mason Lodge #855 in Port Washington and a member of the American Legion, Siesta Key Post #320. He was also a 40-year member of Port Washington Yacht Club.

John was a loving, devoted family man and is survived by his wife, Muriel, his daughter, Patrice Langdon and grandchildren Meredith and Todd of Manhasset, his son John J. Todd III and grandchildren Kimberly and Kara of Connecticut.

A funeral service was held in Sarasota, Fl. An additional memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 19, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Flushing Cemetery, prior to interment. A memorial education fund has been established in John's name. Contributions may be sent to Lebanon Valley College, c/o Paul Brubaker, Director of Planned Giving, 101 North College Avenue, Annville, PA 17003-0501.
