  • NEWS: Memorial Day Parade Steps Off in Sunshine

    The theme of this year's Memorial Day Parade was "Manhasset Commemorates the American Century: 1900-1999." The parade, sponsored by the Manhasset American Legion Post 304, began promptly at 10 a.m. , led by the Manhasset High School Marching Band, playing a medley of George M. Cohan tunes. At the conclusion of the parade, the marchers and those in attendance, gathered, as is the tradition, at Memorial Field, where Post Commander Francis Padar, acknowledged the parade chairman, Vice Commander Richard Miller, and Legionnaire Virgilio Reyes, survivor of the Bataan death march in World War II. The national anthem was sung by Legionnaire Robert E. McGuire, accompanied by the Manhasset High School Band, under the direction of Randy Knudsen. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Plandome Debates Brookside Drive Stop Sign

    Controversy over a planned stop sign on the corner of Brookside Drive and Valley Road dominated the May 11th Plandome Board of Trustees meeting, with one resident pleading with Mayor Brian Vincent to reconsider the sign's location. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: MHS Tennis Team Wins Conference Title

    The Manhasset High School boys tennis team has just completed one of its finest seasons. The team's overall record is 13-2 and Manhasset is the Conference II champ. The team, coached by Dr. David Dorman, was paced by an outstanding quartet of singles players. They are Eric Saccullo, who anchored the team at the first singles position, Jason Vinoles at second singles, Thomas Bagnato at third singles and Sanjeev Mehta at fourth singles. Both Bagnato and Mehta completed undefeated seasons and all four have been cited for conference honors. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Softball and Lacrosse Update

    The Manhasset Girls Lacrosse program has two teams at the 3rd/4th grade level. One team coached by Jim Regan, Eleanor Chorbet and Allan Pashcow, has played seven of its eight games to date. Although the losses outnumber the wins, the level of play has increased by leaps and bounds. Many of the girls are playing their first year of lacrosse or any organized sport. FULL STORY
