  • NEWS: School Board Candidates Discuss Issues

    The League of Women Voters of Port Washington-Manhasset held a candidates night on Monday, May 11, for the two candidates for the Manhasset Board of Education, incumbent William D'Antonio and Thomas Maimone. Speaking for the League, Joyce Fieldsteel of Port Washington, who acted as moderator, explained the ground rules. Each candidate would give a three-minute opening statement, then the floor would be opened up for questions, and then the candidates would give closing statements. The candidates drew lots to see who would begin the proceedings and Mr. Maimone won. FULL STORY

  • NEWS: Harbor Ridge Lifecare Community Comes Closer to Reality

    The long awaited lifecare community planned for the former Morewood Property on the shore of Hempstead Harbor has opened a sales office in Roslyn and a series of meetings were held last week with people who had already indicated an interest in the project. The meetings were conducted by Patricia Doty, a dynamic spokeswoman for the Marriott organization, which expects to develop the property. FULL STORY

  • SPORTS: Manhasset Track Teams Host 10th Booster Club Gold Coast Relays

    On Thursday, April 29, the Manhasset boys and girls track team hosted the tenth annual Gold Coast Relays on the home track. Twelve boys and girls teams were present, including Port Washington, Herricks, Great Neck South and Great Neck North, Roslyn, Carle Place, Clarke, Wheatley, Oyster Bay, North Shore, Locust Valley and Glen Cove. More than 450 medals were won by 500 athletes in 50 different relays. Thanks to the Manhasset Booster Club, the huge relay meet ran successfully in three hours. FULL STORY
