Manhasset Playground to Become a Reality
The North Hempstead Town Board voted at its regular meeting on April 20 to award a contract for purchase and installation of playground equipment at Mary Jane Davies Green Park to Louis Barbato Landscaping, Inc. of Ronkonkoma. According to the town, two bids were received for the project but only one was responsive to the bid specifications and constituted a responsible bidder. The amount of the contract is $64,076. The vote on the contract award was unanimous so it looks as if Manhasset will have a playground in its downtown area for the first time.

6th Grade Team Continues to Roll
Coach Brugal's fifth-grade travel lacrosse team played a strong West Islip team to a tie on Sunday, April 18. Manhasset had very few good opportunities to score as West Islip controlled virtually all of the face-offs and kept the ball in Manhasset's defensive half for much of the game.

Manhasset Baseball League Registration Closed
The Manhasset Baseball and Softball Leagues are now closed to new applicants for the current 1999 season. With 725 players across 62 teams, using five fields, the league has simply run out of room on team rosters and uniforms, as well as game and practice fields.
