Art Gianelli, director of operations for the Town of North Hempstead, has informed us that the "specs" for the new playground at Mary Jane Davies Green have gone out for bid. (Last December the town board unanimously approved funds for the playground.)

The playground, modest in proportions, will include a play area for 2-5-year-olds and a play area for 5-12-year-olds. It will have two swing sets, including one with buckets. Additionally, we are exploring the possibility of including a sprinkler.

Keep your eyes on the west side of the gazebo, close to the beginning of summer, for visible signs of progress on the playground. Meanwhile, enjoy the many improvements made recently on Plandome Road and the others coming our way, such as the new baseball field that Jim Judge and his dedicated baseball volunteers are building at Manhasset Valley Park.
