Obituaries

Madge Saggese died on Feb. 28,1999. She was born in Tullig, County Cork, Ireland. She is survived by her son, Joseph; grandchildren Kevin, J. P., Kenneth, Allene and Ted; and by her great-grandchildren, Christopher, Ian, Michael, K.J., Jack and Maggie. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary's Church in Manhasset on Wednesday, March 3, with interment in Nassau Knolls Cemetery.

Donald Frank Spampinato, Sr., 67, of Manhasset and Clearwater, FL, died Monday, Feb. 15, in Clearwater, FL.

Donald was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born in Flushing and moved to Manhasset in 1970, and retired from the New York City Fire Department in 1991 after 34 years of service. He was a past member of the Manhasset Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department and a veteran of the Korean War. Donald enjoyed his family, boating, fishing and antique cars.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; son Donald Jr., of Manhasset; daughter, Linda, of Raleigh, NC; son Michael, of Melville; daughters-in-law Laurie and Lisa; three grandchildren Donald, David and Joseph; his brother Robert of Whitestone; sister, Dorothy Hasey; and brother James of New Mexico.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at St. Mary's RC Church in Manhasset, with Father O'Rourke of Port Washington, and Father Fernan of the Bronx celebrating the Mass on Feb. 20, with interment following in Roslyn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the North Shore Animal League would be appreciated by the family.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Fairchild Sons, Manhasset.
