The Manhasset Board of Education has announced the selection of Lawrence E. Bozzomo, Ed.D., as the new superintendent of schools, effective July 1. The board officially appointed Dr. Bozzomo at its March 4 meeting.

Dr. Bozzomo assumes the Manhasset post with 30 years of educational experience as a classroom teacher, principal and Central Office administrator.
For the past 16 years, Dr. Bozzomo has been superintendent of schools in the North Allegheny School District, located in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. As the educational leader of 8,400 students, he supervises a professional staff of 583 and a support staff of 387 in 13 buildings. This year the district is celebrating its 50th anniversary. During his tenure, North Allegheny has experienced tremendous growth and many achievements. These accomplishments have resulted in the establishment of a world-class school district.
Prior to his position in North Allegheny, Dr. Bozzomo was superintendent of schools in the Lower Moreland Township School District, Huntington Valley, PA for five years.
His career in education also includes positions as director of curriculum, supervisor of elementary and special education, elementary school principal and assistant superintendent for instruction.
In accepting the appointment, Dr. Bozzomo commented, "Manhasset has impressed me as a community with a passionate commitment to their children and education. I am looking forward to becoming a part of that community and to working along with them to define and achieve their goals and dreams for the future of the Manhasset Public Schools."
Dr. Bozzomo received his Ed.D. degree from Lehigh University. He has a master's degree in elementary education from the University of Delaware and a bachelor of science degree in secondary education from East Stroudsburg University.
A native of Easton, PA, a community located one hour west of New York City, Dr. Bozzomo has two grown children who live in the suburban Philadelphia area.
In making the announcement on behalf of the board of education, Dr. Vincent Calluzzo, Manhasset board president, commented that the search for a new superintendent was a lengthy and comprehensive one beginning last summer. The board of education thanked all faculty and staff who participated in the interview process. This input was invaluable in making the final selection.
Dr. Calluzzo said that Dr. Bozzomo's background and experience in all phases of education made him an outstanding candidate for Manhasset's top position. Dr. Calluzzo added that he and the board members extend a warm welcome to Dr. Bozzomo and look forward to working with him in providing the very best educational program for Manhasset students.
