William Harry Baugher, a 47-year resident of Plandome, passed away on Feb. 23, 1999 after a long illness. He was 77 years old.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phebe, and their eight children, Hugh, Harry, Laurie, Jeff, Ralph, Scott, Lisa and Kirk, and by 19 grandchildren.
Harry was a former president and CEO of W.S. Wilson Corporation, a family owned and operated aerospace parts distributor located in Port Washington, He was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, where he attended McDonough Prep School. He graduated from Washington and Lee University in 1943, where he lettered in football, basketball and baseball. Harry went on to serve in the United States Navy aboard an LCI during World War II.
Harry was an extremely active member in the Police Boys Club (PBC) organization where he devoted many years to the football and lacrosse programs, touching many people's lives. He was one of the founders of the PBC traveling lacrosse team and its first coach.
Harry was buried in Baltimore in a family plot along with his parents and extended family members on Feb. 26, 1999. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 9 at 7 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church in Manhasset. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Harry's name to the Manhasset PAL.
Marjorie M. Glowacki of Bayside died on Feb. 28, 1999. She was pre-deceased by her husband, William F. Glowacki. She is survived by her daughters, Melinda and Christine, and by her grandchildren, James, Ross and Rebecca. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 4, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fairchild Funeral Chapel in Manhasset with interment in Christ Church Cemetery in Manhasset.
