The Manhasset Soccer Crusaders (Boys under 12) have been awarded the 1998 Sportsmanship Award by the Long Island Junior Soccer League. The award is given to the team by a vote of the coaches, league officials and referees. Points are awarded for appearance, punctuality, knowledge of the rules of the game, proper conduct before, during and after the game. The boys are coached by Hugh Hothem and Linda Schierhorst. The team will receive the trophy and individual awards at the LIJSL Sportsmanship Dinner at the Huntington Town House.

The Crusaders and five other Manhasset sides are preparing for the 1999 spring season which will begin on Saturday, March 20.

The Manhasset Soccer Club will begin its 22nd spring season on Saturday, April 10. All games and practices this spring are at the Shelter Rock School field. All intramural players from four-and-a-half years old through grade six are invited to play. The emphasis is always on fun and learning to play the world's most popular sport. Players of all levels are welcome. Registration forms can be picked up at Phil's Manhasset Sports Shop or by calling 872-4269.
