Retired advertising executive Victor G. Bloede, died on Feb. 10, 1999 in Boca Raton, Florida, after a short illness. He was a resident of Delray Dunes Country Club. He had been a long time resident of Plandome Manor and maintained a summer home in Manhasset after his retirement in Florida.

He served on the national board of directors of the American Cancer Society, the PGA of America, The Traveler's Aid Society and was a governor of St. John's College of Annapolis, MD.

In 1983 Mr. Bloede retired from Benton & Bowles, Inc., a multinational advertising agency. He had spent the majority of his business career at B&B, beginning as a copy writer, and rising through various executive positions, before becoming president and then chairman of the board. In addition he served as chairman of the Association of American Advertising Agencies, and the Association of National Advertisers. He also served as an advisor to both Presidents Nixon and Ford. He was also a guest lecturer at Duke University and Florida Atlantic University.

He served in WWII as a captain in the 8th Air Force where he flew 33 combat missions over Germany as a B-17 bombardier.

In addition to being a member of Delray Dunes Country Club, he was a member of Sands Point Golf Club, the Ocean Club and the Community Reformed Church of Manhasset.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Merle (Mickey), and son, Victor G. Bloede Jr., daughters Susan Quaid and Dee Anna Willis, as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service took place at 3:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12 at First Presbyterian Church, 33 Gleason St. in Delray.
