On page three of today's Manhasset Press there are a few pictures of the Champions for Charity Breakfast given by The Americana in recognition of its successful holiday program through which charities named by local residents shared in the profits of The Americana member stores. Like everything else that Americana does, it was carried off with style. On the pages devoted to the Tower Foundation dinner dance, once again we see Mr. and Mrs. Castagna of The Americana, generous contributors to the Tower Foundation. It seems that there is not an event held in Manhasset to which The Americana does not donate a shopping spree of one size or another and the winner always cheers because the prospect of shopping there is such fun. Of course many of us deplore the fact that some of the participating stores are out of our reach but many of them are within reach and they all add such a "touch of class" to the area. The stores and now, with the addition of Naples to Millie's Place, the restaurants, are beautiful. The entire center is a seasonal joy to which everyone looks forward as the landscaping changes from spring bulbs through summer flowers, autumn foliage and Christmas lights and trees. We would admire The Americana as a visual and financial asset to Manhasset if that were all that it is, but given the extraordinary generosity of the Castagnas, we not only admire but are most grateful for their presence in our midst.
