Nearly 300 members of the Manhasset community joined together on Saturday, Jan. 23 at North Hempstead Country Club in a fun-filled evening of dining and dancing to support the four Manhasset schools. When it was all over, the Tower Foundation's annual dinner dance raised $78,000, eclipsing last year's record fund raiser. FULL STORY

The North Hempstead Board of Zoning Appeals announced on Jan. 27 that it had denied the variances requested by Manhasset Ventures/Northtown Realty Company. The developer of the shopping center would have been the Kimco Organization.This, for the present at least, puts an end to the proposal which would have brought a King Kullen supermarket to the existing Filene's Shopping Center.
