The Manhasset High School Physical Education Department is proud to announce that Lisa Visentin and Dan Macdonald have been selected as outstanding physical education students. Criteria for their selection were exceptional performance in physical education, scholarship, leadership qualities, and service to the Manhasset School-Community. Lisa and Dan were honored for their selection at an awards banquet on Dec. 7 at the Milleridge Inn. The Nassau Zone of New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance sponsored the awards program.

Lisa is a dynamic young lady with boundless energy and wide range of interests. She has been on the High Honor Roll throughout her high school years and was inducted into the National and Spanish Honor Societies. In addition to being a co-captain of the varsity soccer and softball teams, she is a peer responder, peer AIDS educator, peer mentor, and Key Club member. Lisa has won several awards in various science research competitions and has an outstanding record of volunteer service to several community organizations. She hopes to attend Union College next year and enroll in its pre-med program.

During his high school years, Dan has been an outstanding physical education student whose test scores, skill development, and attitude have been consistently high. He has been a member of the varsity golf team since 7th grade, and his game has improved every year, culminating with a nine-hole stroke average of 38.5 as a junior. As a freshman, Dan earned All-County honors, and he earned All-State honors during grades 10 and 11. As a sophomore, Dan finished 5th in New York State Championships and, as a junior, he placed 4th. Last summer, Dan won the Rutgers Junior Open. He also competes on the American Junior Golf Association Tour and the Plantation's Tour. Dan will attend the University of Maryland next year where he has been awarded a scholarship to play on the varsity golf team.
