Obituaries

Spencer H. Peets, a longtime resident of Manhasset, died in San Luis Obispo, CA, on Nov. 23 at the age of 89. Mr. Peets was a civil engineer who had his practice in Manhasset for many years.

Born and raised in Great Neck, Mr. Peets graduated from Union College where he was captain of the Union College tennis team. After graduation he played tennis for the Long Island Tennis Club and continued playing in senior amateur tennis tournaments. He served as an army officer during World War II.

He was predeceased by his wife, Virginia (nee Rossiter) in 1976 and by his sister, Linda, who passed away in Bali, Indonesia. He is survived by his sons, Elliott of Chico, CA; David of Markleville, CA, and Richard of Oakview, CA; and by his daughters, Jacqueline LaPlante of Redmond, WA and Kathleen Peets of Miller Place, and by eight grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were made under the direction of Sutcliffe Mortuary in San Luis Obispo, CA. The family requests donations to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
