SPORTS:
On the Bay
Last Sunday, 15 Interclub dinghy sailors participated in an on-the-water sailing seminar coached by Pedro Lorson and Doug Clark. Five practice starts and several short races were followed by three regular races. Calm winds eventually built to 5-7 knots. Top sailors: 1. Steve Moore (510), 2. Bill Kelly (007), and 3. Ted Toombs (514). Next week, regular racing will resume. Of interest: the two seminar coaches, Pedro Lorson and Doug Clark, have been friends for over 25 years. They first met while sailing in junior regattas around Long Island Sound, Pedro representing MBYC and Doug sailing out of Northport YC. They continued their friendship while sailing for their respective colleges and have returned to Manhasset Bay and the frostbiting fleet.
