Local Incumbents Kept in Office
Following a national trend, the incumbents in all Long Island congressional districts were re-elected. Manhasset is represented by Republican Congressman Peter King who won re-election with 64 percent of the vote over Democrat Kevin Landberg with 35 percent and Liberal Thomas DiLavore with 1 percent.

Petitions Circulated to Stop Development
As reported in the Oct. 29 edition of the Manhasset Press, the proposal of Kimco Realty Development Company to redevelop the shopping center at Shelter Rock Road and Northern Boulevard was met with opposition by the Terrace Manor community. This past week Phyllis Clark, president of the Terrace Manor Civic Association, distributed petitions to merchants along Plandome Road asking them and their customers to sign a request to the Board of Zoning and Appeals to deny the developer's application.

Exciting Debut Season for Blue Lightning
The newly formed second grade girls CYO travel soccer team played their final official game on Saturday, Oct. 24. Their season record was 2 wins, 2 ties and 5 losses. It was an incredibly exciting season for the players and their very supportive spectators. The season's scorers were Megan Tenet, Christine Maimone, Angelika Iordanou and Nina Kucharzyk. Throughout the season goal keeping skills were learned and developed by Brittany Evans, Kathy Jaronczyk, Caroline Ceriello and Stephanie Sandoval.
