Naturalist Bill Fix bedecked in a 10 foot long python.

Fun was had by all as more than 250 grandmas, grandpas, moms, dads and kids gathered under the yellow-and-white striped tent on the Manhasset Public Library's patio for naturalist Bill Fix and his show: "Predators--Guardians of the Environment."

Kids and adults alike enjoyed popcorn and cotton candy provided by the Young Friends of the Library, while chatting with their friends and neighbors before getting seated to enjoy the show. Bill Fix educated the audience as to the importance of predators in our environment as he presented an array of snakes, ferrets and birds of prey. A highlight of his show came when he pulled out a 10-foot long python from its cage and displayed it to the audience with the hands-on assistance of the library's very own Vicki and Debbie.

A Wildlife Adventure was funded in part by the Anne Lynch Koster Memorial Fund. A Manhasset resident and Friend of the Library, Anne Lynch Koster was especially fond of children and the beauty of nature. This was the first in a series of nature programs dedicated in her memory. We are all very grateful to the Koster family for thinking of the families of the Manhasset community with their generous gift to the library.
