The mighty Warthogs prevailed this past Saturday at home, edging the Cure of Ars fifth grade girls CYO soccer team by a score of 2-0.

The Warthogs win came as a result of phenomenal defense by outstanding fullback Katherine Fink, who was unpenetrable and prevented several key Cure of Ars goal-threatening drives. Alicia Hannan opened the barn door for the Warthogs, banging in the first goal with the assistance of Lindsey Ready, Elizabeth Avallone and Kristina Duffy. The team controlled the ball for the majority of the first half cue to the assertive play of defensive greats Megan Cronin, Kara Manoogian, Lizzy Morelli, Katherine Fink and goalie star Sarah Pegno (who just missed her first goal by a hog hair!).

The second half pressure was provided by Tara McCarney, Grace Golden, Maggie Breslin, Brittany Loschiavo, Jenny Tricarico and Jessica Millard. The key to the Warthogs win was the shot heard round the world from multi-functional Kara Manoogian who scored the second and final goal of the game directly in front of her teary eyed fan club (truly a "Priceless" moment).

Congratulations to the Warthogs on their fourth win of the season, making their record 4-0.

Not even dismal weather can stop the Devils. Powerhouse Diaz, Tiger Dan and the Dynamo Izzo controlled the field, running at lightning speed and directing the ball. The marvel Matt in control at defense. Outstanding offense in this entire game by the Z Man. He assisted the King Heenan for first goal. Offense is so awesome and defense too, the goalie could fall asleep. This makes Matt Goldstein's lightning reaction, when a ball finally comes to goal, all the more remarkable! Once again he kept the Devils from being scored on and kicked the ball to mid-field after saving it. MVP strongman Madison had three close calls, just missing the goal by inches. Then, assisted by the powerhouse, scored the second goal of the game. Mighty Marlon with breath-taking break always had fans on the end of their seats as he rushed to goal three times. The Z Man stole the ball from St. Aidan's with minutes to go in the third quarter and scored the third goal.

Dominator Denihan outrageous defenseman intimidated St. Aidan's. Magic Michael Snee strong and fast kept that ball for the Devils. Awesome Cappelini still kicked that ball so high and so far he will go down in annals of soccer history! The Giant Vanderberg took over the field when he played offense or defense. The Giant controlled the ball moving around St. Aidan's players with skill and speed. Rambo Alex Snee again foiled every attempt by St. Aidan's to take the ball. The Devils know they can depend on Rambo! The King scored the fourth goal. What a king! What a game!

The fifth grade girls CYO Liberty looked like the New York Mets on Saturday, pulling a major disappearing act losing to St. Aidan's 5-1. The game started off well with the Liberty scoring first on a fine play by Katherine Dufnjak, who netted her first goal of the year. After that the flood gates opened with St. Aidan's scoring five unanswered goals. The offense couldnot get started and the usually singly defense and goaltending failed. However, there were a few bright spots, Diana Cottumaccio played well hustling and looking for open teammates. Kerri D'Agostino saved the day on defense, making several key plays. The girls hope to rebound on Tuesday under the lights facing a tough Cure of Ars team from Merrick. The Liberty now has an 0-2-1 record.
