Anne M. Condren, 93, of Gristmill Lane, Plandome Mills, NY, died on Sept. 18, 1998. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Edward I. Condren. She is survived by her children: William J. Condren, Professor Edward I. Condren and Carol Caroll; her grandchildren Sloan Castleman, Sean, Ellen Crowley, Hillary, Colin, Elizabeth, Jennifer and Matthew Carroll, and by her great-grandson, Jack Crowley. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Edna McKeever, her nephew, Rev. Paul E. McKeever and niece, Edna McKeever.

Mrs. Condren taught for many years in the New York City Public School System, mainly at P. S. 131 in Jamaica Estates, Queens, where she lived prior to moving to Plandome Mills in 1968. A woman of great intelligence and character, she was the conscience and motivator of her family for four generations.

A wake was held on Sunday, Sept. 20, at Fairchild's Funeral Home, Manhasset. Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Sept. 21, at St. Mary's Church, Manhasset.

Nellie Mae Seale, of Plandome Heights, died Sept. 14 in St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn. She was born on a small farm in Gravity, PA, the daughter of William and Verena Megargel Shaffer. From this home came family values, religion and a love for education.

After graduating from college, Mrs. Seale taught for 44 years before retiring in 1973. With 14 years of teaching experience, Nellie Mae took a position as a reading consultant in Port Washington where she was to become a pioneer in her field. She helped to organize the International Reading Association on LI and was the program director for several years. Since retirement, Mrs. Seale was actively involved in the American Association of University Women and the Great Neck Women's Club.

Nellie Mae is survived by a brother, Vance Shaffer of St. Simons, GA; one niece and four nephews. Private services will be provided by the Jenkins Funeral Home, Waymart. Interment East Canaan Cemetery, Wayne Co., PA. Friends may contribute to the Scholarship Fund of the Port Washington Teachers Association or the Wayne County Historical Society, PO Box 466, Honesdale, PA.
