Joseph G. Connolly died at home in Manhasset on June 22, 1998 after a long illness. He is survived by his beloved wife, Emma (nee Gentile); children Maureen C. McFeely of Garden City; Sharon C. Larkin of Manhasset; Cathleen M. of Easton, MA; Joseph G. Jr. of McLean, VA; Patricia C. Cocks of Northport; Deirdre C. Robson of Garden City; Kevin B., Terrence J., and Patrick J., all of Manhasset; and Tara C. Sauvigne of East Williston; and by 29 grandchildren.
Mr. Connolly was the Chief of Interpretations of the Securities and Exchange Commission from 1942 through 1946. He was a retired partner of the law firm Kaye, Scholer, Fierman, Hayes and Handler, NY. He was a member of the boards of directors of Sternco Industries, Inc.; Redmond Industries, Inc. and several other companies. He was also a member of the American Bar Association (Committee on Corporate Law and Accounting); New York County Lawyers Association (Committee on Securities and Exchanges); member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.
He was a graduate of Manhattan College, Class of 1937, and Columbia Law School, Class of 1940.
Locally Mr. Connolly was a former president of St. Mary's, Manhasset, School Board; Eucharistic Minister and Lector at St. Mary's and St. Francis Hospital. He was also a former trustee of St. Pascal Baylon parish in Hollis, Queens. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, Manhasset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 25 at St. Mary's R. C. Church in Manhasset. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 364 Willis Avenue, Mineola, NY 11501.
Phoebus C. Karageorgis of Manhasset died on June 10, 1998. He is survived by his wife, Basilia (nee Chios); children Elainnne and Constance; grandchild, Theresa and sister, Sophie Kiklis. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Fairchild Funeral Chapel in Manhasset. A funeral service was held on June 15 at The Archangel Michael Greek Orthodox Church with entombment following in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
