  • NEWS: VFW and Manhasset Park District Dedicate Memorial Park

    For almost seven years the residents of Manhasset lived with an eyesore on the southwest corner at the intersection of Northern Boulevard and Shelter Rock Road. The building of Staples and the Independence Savings Bank on the corner finally resolved that problem and the landscaping of the site has made it most attractive. Nassau County restored the little park in the property it owned on the corner and turned it over to the Manhasset Park District. Now the Park is not only good to look at but it is home to a memorial erected by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Manhasset Post 5063 to honor all Manhasset veterans living and deceased who served in time of war and dedicated to the United States Coast Guard Shop "USS Manhasset - WAG 276." An anchor, a rock to which the memorial is attached and an American Flag have been installed at the site. It is a joint project of the Manhasset Park District and the Manhasset Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5063. FULL STORY

    It was Sunday, May 3, 1998. A big day for Manhasset girls' volleyball because the St. Mary's 6th and 7th grade teams were both in their respective CYO division final of Nassau/Suffolk counties. The site for the event was the Maria Regina School in Seaford. FULL STORY

    Last Sunday, the Fourth Grade Laxmen traveled down to Rockville Centre and handed the previously undefeated RVC Bulldogs their first loss of the season. Playing their toughest game this year, the Indians edged out a very talented RVC team by the score of 9-8. FULL STORY
