  • NEWS: Manhasset Chamber to Christen Harbor Links

    The Manhasset Chamber of Commerce will hold its first golf outing and the first golf outing at the brand new Town of North Hempstead Harbor Links Golf Course on Monday, July 27. The course is expected to be open to the public in mid-July. On Thursday, June 4, Gerard Olsen, North Hempstead's Parks Commissioner, gave a tour of the course to Betsy Chesebrough, president of the Manhasset Chamber of Commerce, Charlie Chesebrough and Brian Jennings, co-chairmen of the golf outing, and the Manhasset Press.   • NEWS: St. Mary's Says Good Bye to Monsignor John J. Skelly

    When I was a senior in high school, I was a stringer for a local newspaper in the small midwestern city where I grew up. Like most entities of that kind, there was a pecking order to assignments and mine weren't always plum. At the risk of dating myself, that was the year Sonny & Cher were big and they were coming to town for a performance and had agreed to an interview session with the press. Needless to say, a senior staff member was chosen to do that interview. I, instead, got to attend a press conference with the governor of the state. At the age of 17 one could - and I did - feel gypped, but looking back, I know now that my assignment was perfect for me; it was a fine lesson in the art of the interview, and the gentleman being interviewed was someone I truly admired. So when I was recently asked to write something about Monsignor John Skelly, I knew another plum assignment had come my way. FULL STORY

    This is the final regular season weekend for the Manhasset Baseball League. The Tee-Ball division will be finished and will receive trophies and participate in contests on World Series Sunday at Memorial Field, June 21.     The Manhasset Third Grade Travel PAL team finished its season with a 6-5 win over North Shore in a hotly contested and well attended game this past Sunday. Coach Karl Hueglin said "It was a fine finish" for his "team of young stalwarts." FULL STORY
