The Veterans of Foreign Wars, Manhasset Post 5063, held an installation ceremony on May 5, 1998.

The swearing in ceremony took place at North Hempstead Town hall.

The past Nassau County VFW Commander, presently the VFW District #1 Commander, Robert Vinciguerra performed the swearing in honors.

The distinguished new commander, Jerry Rudnick, is interested in the welfare of all veterans as well as looking out for the well being of our community. He continues to be active in numerous civic activities.

The newly installed officers are:

Commander - Selwyn G. Rudnick (Jerry)

Sr. Vice Commander - Robert E. McGuire

Junior Vice Commander - Charles Derderian

Judge Advocate - John Dunne

Quartermaster - George Serres

Chaplain - John Greco

Surgeon - Matthew Peterson

Trustees - Gaspar Indelicato, Eugene Garges, John Greco

The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States was formed in 1899 to address the needs of veterans returning from the Spanish American War. The VFW's aims are fraternal, patriotic and educational. "To keep faith with those who fought and died, we, the living, will continue to strive for the security of our nation and the preservation of the republic."
