On Saturday, April 25, at the 75th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Manhasset's 4x400 team of Kalif Gocan, Dwayne Wilson, Kevin Kirk and Kareem Wallace outran 16 teams in their race to win a large Penn Relay plaque. The team ran 3:26.13, a very fast time, to outrun Archbishop Molloy, NY (3:27.10), St. Christopher's, Richmond, VA (3:28.61) and Randallstown, MD (3:30.20).

The race was led off by Kalif Gocan (50:75) in an outstanding opening leg because of traffic (16 teams) and Gocan passed to Dwayne Wilson (51:20), his fastest split of the year. Manhasset was leading as Wilson passed to miler Kevin Kirk, who also ran his fastest split (51:25) and Kirk passed to anchorman Kareem Wallace (Nassau County 400 meter champion) who ran 51:75 for the victory.

This relay victory was special for these four athletes, all seniors, who have run together for four years and won Manhasset's sixth Penn Relay in history, from 1945 to 1998.
