As its April 28 meeting, the Manhasset Board of Education adopted the 1998-99 school budget. The board has been reviewing the document since February and budget discussion has involved members of the district's professional and support staff, administrators, the SCA and the Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC) on school finance. On Saturday, April 25, at the 75th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Manhasset's 4x400 team of Kalif Gocan, Dwayne Wilson, Kevin Kirk and Kareem Wallace outran 16 teams in their race to win a large Penn Relay plaque. The team ran 3:26.13, a very fast time, to outrun Archbishop Molloy, NY (3:27.10), St. Christopher's, Richmond, VA (3:28.61) and Randallstown, MD (3:30.20). FULL STORY

With the weather cooperating, the Manhasset Baseball League had its first full weekend games at all levels. In all, 12 games were played in an abbreviated schedule in deference to the SCA Fair. FULL STORY
