Board Adopts 1998-99 School Budget
As its April 28 meeting, the Manhasset Board of Education adopted the 1998-99 school budget. The board has been reviewing the document since February and budget discussion has involved members of the district's professional and support staff, administrators, the SCA and the Citizens' Advisory Committee (CAC) on school finance. The board approved the budget by a vote of 4-1, with trustee William D'Antonio voting against the adopted budget.

On April 7 in the upper lounge of the Village Hall Chief George T. Hawes presided over the 85th annual meeting and installation of new officers of Plandome's beloved fire department.

MHS Seniors Win 1600 Meter Relay at Penn Relay Carnival
On Saturday, April 25, at the 75th running of the Penn Relays at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Manhasset's 4x400 team of Kalif Gocan, Dwayne Wilson, Kevin Kirk and Kareem Wallace outran 16 teams in their race to win a large Penn Relay plaque. The team ran 3:26.13, a very fast time, to outrun Archbishop Molloy, NY (3:27.10), St. Christopher's, Richmond, VA (3:28.61) and Randallstown, MD (3:30.20).

Manhasset baseball League News
With the weather cooperating, the Manhasset Baseball League had its first full weekend games at all levels. In all, 12 games were played in an abbreviated schedule in deference to the SCA Fair.
