Renato Macor, restaurateur, formerly of Manhasset, died on April 10, 1998 of a heart attack. He was 78.

Prior to immigrating to America, Mr. Macor was a professional basketball player for his native Italy.

During the 1960s and 1970s, he was in the restaurant business in New York City, Port Washington, and Hicksville. He was among the first to introduce Northern Italian cuisine to this country.

After retiring, Mr. Macor moved to his native Trieste, Italy. He is survived by his son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Silvia of Syracuse; daughter Anna Maria Palma of Costa Mesa, CA; sons, Peter and Renato of New York City; grandson Alexander; sister, Ada of Trieste, Italy, and mother of the children, Lena Biscaro Macor.
