The three Manhasset third grade boys lacrosse teams were all victorious on Sunday, April 19.

The first team coached by Bill Morrison defeated Rockville Center 6-4. The team displayed crisp passing and great hustle throughout the game. The defense was led by Mark Wilkerson with two goals and two assists and Dan Mullin with two goals. Colin Quinn, Kyle Gans and Mickey Madden controlled the ball for the Manhasset attack. Jim Wenk, Dan Karges and Brian Morrison carried a solid mid-field play. Outstanding goal tending by James Petracca anchored a solid defense including Jeff McMillan, James Donoghue and D.J. Cisek.

The second third-grade team coached by Bill Miller, Kevin Miller and Fred Schoenhut beat a feisty Cold Spring Harbor team 8-4. The strong mid-field play of Ryan Young, Max Trunz and Peter Kratsios were assisted on the attack by Danny Brugal, Chris Decerbo and finisher Steven Colalillo. Kevin Young, Kevin Miller and Ted Himler maintained great ball control throughout the game.

In the final analysis the outstanding goal tending of the "wall" Fritz Schoenhut who came up with huge saves right down to the wire. The fine defense play by Matt Wolf, Brian Giesecke denied the Cold Spring Harbor attack time and time again.

The final third-grade team coached by Mike Brennan and Bob O'Connell was victorious over Oceanside 7-3. Arthur Frooks had two goals along with Scott Herdemian with two goals. The key to the game was the fine all around play by Mike Brennan, John Kusharczyk, Dylin Harris and Bob O'Connell. Goalie James Melvin turned away shot after shot with athletic moves mature beyond his young years.

All in all it was a fine day for all of Manhasset's traveling teams and the public is reminded that every Sunday beginning at 10 a.m. and continuing through 4 p.m. Manhasset's future stars will be hosting many of Nassau County's fine lacrosse teams. Don't pass up the action. Watch the stars come out. Be part of the scene.
