The Manhasset boys track team was 6-0 as of April 18 but the most exciting event took place at Yale University on April 11 when the 1600 meter relay team of Kalif Gocan (51.9), Dwayne Wilson (51.52), Kevin Kirk (52.7) and Kareem Wallace (49.5) ran 3 min. 26 sec. 72 to outrun Wilbur-Cross and win the championship.

The sprint medley team of Kevin Kirk, Kalif Gocan, Kareem Wallace and David Gordon ran 3:44.82 to win the championship over a top Connecticut team.

Anthony Sutherland (12) was third in the high jump and Vincent Bilello (11) won a silver medal in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

The team's dual meet season has been strong with wins over Seaford, Valley Stream South, Roosevelt, Carle Place, Roslyn and Friends Academy. Kalif Gocan (12) has won the sprints with 11.0 (100 meters) and 23.0 (200 meters); Kareem Wallace (12) the 400 meters (52.3), Mack Bradley (9) (54.1); Kevin Kirk (12), Vincent Bilello (11), David Gordon (12) and Arthur Rudolph (10) in the 800 meters, 1600 meters and 3200 meters.

Hurdlers Sean Yarde (11), Jermain Fountain (11) and Anwar Huffman (9) have been consistent scorers. The field events have been led by Dwayne Wilson (12) 6'0" high jump; 21'10" long jump; 42' triple jump; Anthony Sutherland (12) 5'8" high jump; Anwar Huffman (9) 5'6" high jump; long and triple jumpers Lamont Eddins (11), Jason McDonald (12), Dwayne Yearwood (11) and Dwayne Baldwin (11). The weights (shot-discus) have been led by Anwar Belt (11) 37 1/2 shot-put and Carlos Moya (9) 97' discus. Fran Moya (11), Chris Shin (12) , Brian Raffaele (12), Garvey Camilien (9) and Louis Banera (10) have been winners on relay teams.

Saturday, April 18, at Syosset several outstanding frosh/soph athletes made All-County for 1998. DuJohn Hendricks (9) won 100 meters (11.7) for the county title; Mack Bradley (9) won the 400-meter title in 54.8; Garvey Camilien (9) was third in frosh 800 meters and Anwar Huffman (9) won the county title in the high jump. Arthur Rudolph (10) made All-County in the sophomore 1600 meters in the most exciting race of the day.
