As baseball season approaches, the new Manhasset Baseball League, 28 teams strong, is making several announcements.

First: Mark your calendars for a pre-season cocktail party and get-together set for Saturday evening, March 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Strathmore-Vanderbilt Country Club. All are invited and more details will be announced next week.

Next: The practice and evaluation season for the Major League (4th and 5th graders) and the Minor league (2nd and 3rd graders) will begin the weekend of March 28 and 29. The Tee-Ball League (K and 1st graders) will start on Sunday afternoon, April 5, at Memorial Field. For the Major and Minor, teams will be arranged by Saturday, April 4, so that teams can get practicing for opening day which is Saturday, April 25 for the Major and Minor Leagues and Sunday, April 26 for the Tee-Ball League.

The deadline for registration for the Major and Minor Leagues is Tuesday, March 31. Anyone still not signed up can do so at Phil's Manhasset Sport Shop.

A hand of thanks also to the excellent interest in sponsorships. Several teams have already been "adopted," but there is plenty of room for more sponsors. There are three levels of sponsorship available, including Field, Major/Minor League teams and Tee-Ball teams. Please call 627-1384 for more information.
