Santa has not even arrived in Manhasset yet and here is the first in a series of articles on the upcoming 1998 PAL lacrosse season. This year will mark the 38th season for the boys and the 13th season for the girls. It may seem very early to talk about lacrosse but due to the registration requirements and the huge growth of the Nassau County lacrosse league, which is the organization that the Manhasset travel teams play in, we are starting registrations immediately.
This year Manhasset will be fielding travel teams in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade divisions. In order to be included on a travel team you must submit a registration form, a copy of your birth certificate and a check for $75. This check will automatically include you in our Saturday morning intramural program.
This year you may register at the Manhasset Sports Shop located at 111 Plandome Road on any day through Jan. 23. We will also have registration on Jan. 12 and 14 at the Shelter Rock School gymnasium between 7 and 9 p.m. All registration will be closed on Jan. 23. All Manhasset players' rosters must be in the Nassau County league office on Feb. 9. Due to the administration of completing a travel team roster the dates of registration are critical.
Our Saturday morning intramural program will start on March 5. More about the Saturday morning program will appear in future articles.
Past experience on a travel team is not necessary and we will include all boys and girls who want to play.
The Manhasset PAL league program endorses a no-cut policy with equal play for all boys and girls. The objective of our program is to learn the great game of lacrosse, make new friends and have fun.
Don't be left out on the fun. Get down to the Manhasset Sports Shop and have your name among all the others so that we may continue a great Manhasset tradition.
