Joseph J. O'Reilly, former resident of Manhasset, died on Nov. 15 in Sun City, FL. He was 85 years old. Born in New York City, he graduated from Holy Cross College in 1933. In 1958 he moved to Manhasset, where he was active in St. Mary's Church as a member of the Holy Name Society and Choir. He also served as a Democratic committeeman for many years and was active in the AARP. A self-employed businessman, he operated a real estate tax service for 35 years. He is survived by his wife, Helen; three daughters: Elizabeth Schneider, Julia Eggleston and Rosemary Foti; a son, J. Anthony; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Sr. Mary Josepha, and a brother, Edward.
A commemorative Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's R. C. Church, Manhasset on Dec. 20 at 11:30 a.m. Reception for family and friends will follow.
Marie T. Giffuni of Plandome died on Nov. 28, 1997. She is survived by her husband, Joseph, son, Louis, daughter-in-law, Allison, and granddaughter, Katie. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Fairchild Funeral Chapel in Manhasset. A funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, Dec.1, at St. Mary's R.C. Church, Roslyn, with interment following at Nassau Knolls Cemetery. The family would appreciate donations to the National Center for Disabilities Services, Albertson , NY 11507.
