The Levittown Tigers 9 Year Old Baseball Travel Team ended their spring season with a .500 season average. At the end of season, they participated in the National Junior Baseball League Memorial Day Tournament. The team traveled to Connetquot and played four games over the weekend. They advanced to the championship game, undefeated, with a 4-0 record.
After starting the championship game versus the Elmjack All Stars (a competitive team from Elmhurst and Jackson Heights), they immediately went down by five runs. By the second inning, in spite of this deficit, they pulled together but ultimately had to settle for second place, losing the game 6-5.
Over the course of the season and the tournament, the boys rallied every game, never giving up, and always played with their hearts making the coaches, families and fans proud of each and every one of them.
Mike Sweeney, manager of the 9U Tigers, believes that this team has the stuff to compete with any local club on Long Island. He attributes their success to a great program, which includes devoted players, parents and Coaches Joe Wolf and Dennis Bradley, as well as terrific team chemistry.
The Levittown Tigers Travel Baseball program is based at the Levittown West Little League, Redwing Lane Park.
