The MacArthur Wrestling Generals lead all teams in Nassau County with nine All-County wrestlers in the Nassau County Championship Wrestling Tournament. This includes crowning two Nassau County Champions. Seniors Chris Perez at 130 lbs. and Brian Conrad at 140 lbs. both came away with individual county titles.
Perez also went on to place third in the 2011 New York State Tournament. For Perez, this was his second county championship. Last year he finished first, at 112 lbs.
The Generals other seven place-winners helped them to an overall second place finish in the team standings in the 2011 Nassau County Championships.
Finalists taking second place were at 135 lbs. senior Angelo Rella and at 160 lbs. junior Joe Cataldo. freshman Justin Cooksey finished a strong season taking third place at 96 lbs.
The Generals had two fourth place finishers in senior Tom Manning at 125 lbs. and sophomore Chris Cataldo at 112 lbs. Rounding out the county leading nine All-County wrestlers were sophomore Robert Bennett taking fifth at 130 lbs. and senior Frank Medeiros finishing fifth at 152 lbs.
Tremendous team effort put in by all wrestlers all season long led to a solid finish for the Generals in the 2011 Nassau County Tournament. The Generals will look to take this year’s finish as a positive step toward capturing a Nassau County Championship for the 2012 tournament.
