The Island Trees Bulldogs used solid pitching, clutch hitting and sparkling defense to capture the NJBL 2009 13U Central League Championship by sweeping the Massapequa Sharks two games to none in the finals.
The Levittown Cardinals traveled to Hinsdale, MA and won the 15-year-old, Dan Duquette Sports Academy Summer Blast Championship.
After a great season of baseball, the Levittown Warriors won the championship for the 16-year-old division of NJBL.
The LAC Bobcats girls fastpitch softball team, managed by Bobby Tedeschi and coached by Angela DiTieri and Rich Pollina, concluded the 2009 season by winning their fourth championship of the summer. The Bobcats defeated the South New Jersey Stingrays 10-0, in the finals of the LAC Island Splash IV, which was held at Carmen Avenue field in East Meadow. The Bobcats finished the season with a 32-11-2 record.

The LAC Bobcats 18U girls fastpitch softball team won their third consecutive championship at the Nutmeg State Championship games in Danbury, CT - a PONY qualifier. The Bobcats, managed by Bobby Tedeschi, and coached by Angela DiTieri, Rich Pollina and Scott White, defeated the Silver Bullets Silver 18U, 3-0 in the finals. The Bobcats won four games in the tournament, losing one, to improve their 2009 record to 26-6-2, for over a .800 winning percentage.
With all the makings of a celebration, the Levittown Swimming Association (LSA) kicked off its 54th season of keeping Levittown’s youth fit, involved, and safe last Saturday with its appropriately named first swim meet of the year - Relay Carnival.
The girls U8 Rough Riders won the Independence Cup recently. The girls went undefeated in their division and faced Albertson in the finals.
