Known as the ultimate caregiver, Mr. Harnett shepherded the care of thousands of Long Islanders in his role as president/CEO of Family & Children’s Association, a human care agency serving Long Island’s neediest population. Mr. Harnett passed away unexpectedly on Jan. 23, 2010.
In addition to his role at Family & Children’s, Mr. Harnett served as advisor to The Health and Welfare Council of Long Island, member (formerly, Secretary of the Board and member of the Executive Committee); The Kimmel Housing Development Foundation, Inc., member, Board of Directors; Long Island Federally Qualified Health Center, Chair, Board of Directors; New York State Association of Family Service Agencies, Vice President and Chair of the Advocacy Committee; New York State Health Foundation, Special Opportunity Grants, Peer Review Committee; United Nations Department of Peacekeeping Operations, Consultant, Management Training; The United Way of Long Island, Vice President, Agency Executives Council; Anna and Philip Kimmel Foundation, Advisor and Community Advocates, Board member.
Mary C. Smith (nee O’Reilly), 89, of Levittown, died on Jan. 18, 2010.
Wife and best friend of Warren H. for 63 years. Mother of Warren, Bruce (Joyce), Robert (Diana), Brian (Jeanette), Kim Eble (Bud), Kelly Stanley (Michael) and Kathy Gomes (Rui). Sister of Sissy. Grandmother of Dawn, Erin, Heather, Colleen, Patrick, Alison, Jessica, Justin, Jonathan, Ryan, Kara, Kayla and great-grandmother of Ethan, Iris and Trystan.
She was devoted to serving her church and community. Friend to many, loved by all.

Frank J. Callmeyer, 92, of (Timber Pines) Spring Hill, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 8, 2010. He was an active parishioner of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. He married his wonderful wife, the former Natalie Antoinette Cavagnaro in 1948. They had four children. Their first child, Joseph Anthony died as an infant.
Edna J. Toner, of Levittown, died on Jan. 6, 2010. She was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII.

James E. Fisher Jr., of Levittown, died on Jan. 4, 2010. He was a past Grand Knight, K of C, New Hyde Park. Husband of Lucille, father of Jimmy, Jeanne Gebert, Thomas, Robert, William, Maryann, John and Carolyn Krukowski (Ted), grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of two.

Bessie Bentman of Levittown, formerly of the Bronx and Holiday, FL, passed away Nov. 10, 2009 at the age of 102 at the home of her son, David.
She was the wife of the late Henry for 68 years, mother of David and the late Leslie, beloved grandmother of Steven, Susan, Barry and Sherri Bentman, great-grandmother of Sarah, Michaela and Hailey.
She is also survived by two sisters, Esta Consor of Boca Raton, FL, and Frieda Weingold of Amherst, NH, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Her entire life was all of her family. Forever loved, forever missed.
Joan Marcella (Cuffe) Manney, 74, of Ft. Pierce, FL, died Nov. 30, 2009 of cancer. She was born in Queens on Aug. 5, 1935 and raised her family in Levittown. She was married 54 years to Frederick Manney Jr. Joan was active in the Spanish Lakes Fairways (SLF)/Ft. Pierce community, volunteering with the LI Ducklings; Relay for Life; Angel Food Ministry; SLF Welcoming Committee; and the VA Hospital. She served as a coordinator for the SLF U.S. Service Member Care Package team; battered women and children shelter donation team; and elementary school holiday gift drive. She was a member of the local Moose Lodge.
Scott C. Pendergrass, of Levittown, died on Nov. 23, 2009. Father of Star, Daisy and Jack and stepfather of Frankie and Robert Le Crichia. Son of Mary Ann and the late Charles. Brother of Kim Wirth, Christine Zandberg and Candice Farrell. Nephew of Patricia Hesdorfer. Uncle of six. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Levittown Chapel. Frieda (Brolin) Garman, of Washingtonville, NY, former resident of Massapequa Park, passed away peacefully on Nov. 2, 2009 at the age of 92, surrounded by her three children, Lawrence Edward Brolin (wife Eileen), Lynda J. Brolin and Beverly Joanne Brolin. She was born in Astoria, NY, on Oct. 10, 1917, the daughter of Andrew and Hannah Bergh.
Our beloved Gretchen (Eisele) Mucci, 72, passed away peacefully in her Sierra Madre, CA, home on Nov. 1, 2009, All Saints Day.
Gretchen was an early resident of Levittown and a member of Levittown High School’s first graduating class.
Gretchen dedicated her life to others personally and with her 19 years at Optimist Youth Homes. She will be greatly missed by the many people whom she affected with her generous spirit and positive attitude.
Gretchen is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Elizabeth and Gil, Christopher and Denise, Timothy and Suzanne and Laura; seven grandchildren; and siblings, Richard Eisele, Anita Dewitt, John Eisele, Barbara Hoenig and Billy Eisele.
A memorial will be held at Optimist Youth Homes, Highland Park, CA, on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m.
