Mitchel Mikail Klinkowitz, age 95, passed away March 10, 2012 at home. Born Nov. 4, 1916, in New York City, the son of Anthony Klinkowitz and Olga (Petrochevitz) Klinkowitz.
Mike was a WWII Army veteran who served his country in the South Pacific. He retired from Con Edison of New York after a career of over 35 years. His family came first in his life, but Mike also enjoyed golfing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
Marie Ray Strianese, a 50-year resident of Levittown, died on Feb. 23, 2012. Wife of the late Irven Ray and Anthony Strianese. Mother of Pamela Bertin (Richard Rantz), Patricia Russo (Michael), Kane Krabbeler (Bob) and the late Barbara Smith (Calvin). Grandmother of 11. Great-grandmother of two. Dean Hastings, of Riverhead, formerly of Levittown, passed away Feb. 22, 2012. Retired 35-year employee of Grumman Corp. Husband of Mildred. Father of Daniel (Carol) and Julie Engle (Peter). Grandfather of Daniel, Andrew, Jessica and Allison. Also survived by his sister, Mary House, and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held Feb. 27 at St. Martin of Tours RC Church with interment at Calverton National Cemetery.
James A. Slattery Jr., of Levittown, died on Feb. 20, 2012. He was a teacher in the Levittown School District and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Husband of Nancy. Father of Neal (Terry), James (Kathryn), Thomas (Lana), Amy (Andres) and the late Brian and Christopher. Brother of Peggy and Bill. Grandfather of Michelle, James, Stephen, Jennifer, Megan, James, Rebecca, Andres and Isabella. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Levittown Chapel. James J. O’Malley, of Levittown, passed away peacefully on Jan. 5, 2012. Husband of the late Annie. Father of James (Lorri), George (Donna) and Thomas (Janine). Grandfather of Shannon, Thomas, Kathleen, Sean, Ryan, James, Joseph, Johnathan and Dominick. Great-grandfather of Madison. Also survived by his sisters. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Christopher Gagomiros, of Levittown for nearly 60 years, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 10, 2011, from heart failure. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was given an Air Force Honor Guard for his burial at Pinelawn Cemetery. After the war, he worked as a radio operator for Eastern Seaboard Airlines, Trans Caribbean Airlines and finally TWA. Having three boys at home he went to work for Grumman as an air traffic controller and retired as airport manager after almost 40 years of service to them. He also was a coach for the Levittown Red Devils Football team. His wife Betty (Elizabeth) passed away a few years earlier. He is survived by his three sons, Dennis, Keith and Eric. He was 89 years old.

The Board of Fire Commissioners, Chiefs and Officers of the Levittown Fire District regret to announce the passing of ex-fire commissioner and active member Frank J. Scarangella, 74, after a brief illness. He answered his final alarm on Dec. 7, 2011. Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He joined the Levittown Fire Department Engine Co.2 in 1970, located at the Hickory Lane firehouse. He was elected by Levittown residents to the office of fire commissioner in 1980 and served six five-year terms, before leaving office.
In beloved memory of the passing of Catherine Chubre, Bader, (maiden) name Gaffney. Catherine was born on Jan. 4, 1916. She had passed away on Nov. 8, 2011 at the great age of 95.
