Levittown’s Town & Country Jeep Chrysler Dodge in Levittown was among the nearly 40 auto dealers across the state to be issued a “cease-and-desist” letter from Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo’s office for running misleading and deceptive advertisements for the new federal Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS or Cash for Clunkers).

In conjunction with National Stop on Red Week (Aug. 2–8), Nassau County recently launched Phase I of its red light camera program. In April, Governor David Paterson signed the state legislature’s red light camera bill into law and authorized the installation of up to 50 cameras at various intersections. On Aug. 6 at 12:01 a.m. the first of three were activated.

Subject Turns Gun on Customers, Demands Money

Two Subway sandwich shops in Levittown were robbed at gunpoint just two days apart this week.

According to 8th Squad detectives, at 3:55 p.m on July 11 a man entered Subway, located at 7 Emerson Ave., and produced what appeared to be a silver handgun while threatening the clerk not to touch an alarm. Police stated the subject then walked behind the counter and removed cash from the register. He allegedly fled with the money into a waiting silver-colored car with a driver. The car proceeded eastbound on Hempstead Turnpike.
