Christopher Joseph of Levittown was recently selected to play on the United States world university hockey team in Italy this year. A 2009 MacArthur High School graduate, Joseph was captain of his high school team for two seasons, leading them to two championships. Joseph would later go on to play junior hockey for New York Apple Core and the New Jersey Rockets junior ‘A’ team.
Joseph’s parents, Hal and Theresa, along with his brother Robert and sister Kristin said they are very proud of Christopher’s accomplishments and are cheering him on as he heads off to Italy.
Last season, Joseph was selected as a NCAA Division I first team all-star and was given an opportunity to compete in the All-Star Game in Ohio. Joseph was made an Alternate Captain this season, leading the defensive pressure for the SUNY Stony Brook University Seawolves.
Coming out of high school, Joseph was recruited to play in Canada and numerous Colleges across the U.S., including Alaska. Joseph currently leads the Seawolves team in hits this season and is tied for first in assists among the defense.
Joseph will depart for Italy on Dec. 5, 2014. Once there, the world team will face-off against one professional hockey team and numerous other collegiate teams.

Who says you have to travel into Manhattan for a fun-filled evening of delicious food and drink? YES Community Counseling Center hosted its 7th Annual “A Taste of the Town”, featuring many of the South Shore’s finest culinary establishments. All proceeds from the event benefited YES, a non-profit community-based organization providing services to children and families in the community.

The Island Trees Squirts Rockets U-6 team met with town officials, Supervisor Kate Murray and Councilman Gary Hudes at the 2014 Island Trees Soccer Club Opening Day Parade and Ceremony held at Stokes Elementary School. With six second half goals, the Farmingdale State Rams men’s soccer team picked up a 6-0 conference victory over the Sarah Lawrence Gryphons on Oct. 11, to improve to 5-8-1 overall, 2-2-1 in the Skyline. The visiting Gryphons fell to 2-9, 0-5 in conference play.
