Thomas Glenn, 32, of Levittown scored in 16th place overall and first in the highly competitive 30-34 age group in the 2009 edition of the Lazer, Aptheker, Rosella & Yedid Kings Park 15 Kilometer Run on Saturday, March 7. Glenn crossed the finish line in 58 minutes, 20 seconds.
On the distaff side, 21-year-old Erica Hylton finished as the 17th woman overall and first woman in the 20-24 age group with a time of 1:12:24.
A total of 699 runners completed the 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) through the hills of Kings Park, arguably the toughest running course on Long Island. The event was staged once again by the Greater Long Island Running Club under the direction of GLIRC Run Director Steven Toto, and was the kickoff event for the 2009 USA Track & Field - Long Island Grand Prix of Long Island road races.
The next Greater Long Island Running Club event, as well as the next race in the USA Track & Field - Long Island Grand Prix, is the Nationwide Insurance 10 Kilometer Run for ASPIRE, which will start and finish at the H.B. Mattlin Middle School in Plainview on Saturday morning, April 4.
