On the warm 60-degree morning of March 7, Anne-Marie Brzezinski's son Matthew spotted this unusual sight through their window while eating breakfast.
"It was a blue heron perched on the chimney of our neighbor's house," said Brzezinski, who lives on Hickory Lane in Levittown. "We were awed. We watched it until it flew away southward."
According to Dianne Taggart of LongIslandBirds.com, Great Blue Herons are common to LI, however most will migrate south for the winter.
"Some, usually immature ones, will stay here all through the winter months," Taggart added.
