The Levittown Chamber of Commerce recently announced the creation of the Veterans Recognition Program, which provides discounts for veterans at a variety of participating businesses.
Levittown Chamber of Commerce President Ann Torcivia, owner of Friends Travel, explained the program that will benefit men and women who served in the military. All the veteran has to do is show a membership card from the American Legion, VFW or any veterans' organization. Proof of service in the armed forces will be required to receive a card.
Participating businesses will display a decal indicating that they will offer discounts to veterans.
"The Levittown Chamber of Commerce is committed to serving businesses in the Levittown community. This veterans' discount program will generate new customers and clients for local businesses, emphasize the benefits of shopping locally and, at the same time, provide a benefit to our deserving veterans," said Torcivia.
The Levittown/Island Trees Veterans Council is working in conjunction with the Chamber in promoting this program.
"Levittown was built by World War II veterans for veterans, and it is really nice that it is the Levittown Chamber that is the first to show how proud we are of our veterans by giving them discounts when they do business in their community," said Veterans Council President Legislator Dennis Dunne, Sr., a Marine veteran himself. "The greatest part is that, unlike many senior discounts, the veterans discount is available seven days per week," he added.
