On Feb. 6 Stephan Barea took a big step towards his dreams of becoming a top Division 1 College soccer player. He signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Hofstra University next year. He will be joining a team that has won three Colonial Athletic Championships in the past five years and attained a national ranking of 13th. They look to continue their success in 2009 with goals of a National Title on the horizon.

Stephan excelled while playing for Island Trees High School. He was a starting player on the Varsity team for four years, and has been a captain the past three years. He was awarded All County honors by the Nassau County Coaches Association the past two years in addition to be being named Player of the Year for 2008 for the conference. Along the way Stephan was able to break two goal scoring records at Island Trees. He scored 32 goals for his career and in 2008 scored 14 goals in one season.

Island Trees is very proud of Stephan's accomplishments and looks forward to reading about all his future's success. "Stephan is someone who sets an example of hard work and desire leading to your dreams becoming a reality," said Coach Radcliffe. Logo
