The Division Avenue Girls Bowling won this year's County Tournament.
Dana Nally and her team proved this year they are the best team in Nassau County, only losing one game.
They had the highest team average for the entire season. On Jan. 31 it was time to prove they could win the County Tournament.
During the first game they let everyone know they were there, shooting a team series of 971 with Nally shooting a 278 (high game for the tournament) and Erica Schneider with a 224. The Dragons led the 16-team field by over a 100 pins and never looked back. Every game a different bowler contributed. In game four Michelle Fitzpatrick shot a 200 when the rest of the field was trying to make a run and the Dragons finished with a game total of 960, only to give up nine pins of their lead.
Division Ave finished first with a total of 5361. Division will represent Section VIII at the State Tournament on March 6 in Rochester.
Senior Dana Nally had high series for the tournament with a 1,279 for six games. Her games for the day were 278, 221, 177, 202, 180, and 221. Dana Nally has had a wonderful career for DAHS. Part of the team since she was in seventh grade, she is considered one of the top girls in Nassau County. She has been an All County Bowler since she was in eighth grade. Dana Nally plans to go to college next year and study architecture.
