This season the Girls' Varsity Basketball Team at Division Avenue High School has been ranked one of the top 10 teams on Long Island. Many factors have come together to enable the Lady Dragons to attain such pre-season heights. Senior captains Jenna Davis and Brooke Rogala lead the way at the point guard and shooting guard spots. Jenna was an All-Nassau County selection last year, while Brooke attained All-League honors. This pre-season Brooke was named to the All Tournament Team at the Syosset Tournament and Jenna was named the MVP of the Bethpage Tournament. Both girls are highly intelligent and tremendous leaders on and off the court.

The only other returning player from last year's squad is junior Nicolette Parmese. Nicki led the Blue Dragons a year ago with total points and rebounds, which propelled her to an All-League award. Joining Nicki in the front court is junior transfer Kristen Costello. Kristen transferred from a very powerful Holy Trinity Team and instantly made her presence known at Division. Kristen was named to the All-Tournament team at the Bethpage Tournament and was a major factor in helping the Lady Dragons win the tournament championship.

The rest of this year's team is comprised of girls who were part of a very successful junior varsity team last year. Juniors Molly Bauer, Alexa Fernicola and Gina Tricarico add poise and experience off the bench. Sophomores Julie Ballantyne, Taylor Malings, Nicolette McCreary, Christina Rea and Kristen Stuart add excitement and raw talent.

This season the Lady Dragons have moved up from conference two a year ago to the elite conference one in the ABC Classification. When the conferences were set up, the Dragons were seeded fourth behind Floral park, Roosevelt and Malverne. All teams in conference one automatically qualify for the Nassau County playoffs based on the difficulty of their league schedule. The Lady Dragons are all and past this year and will look to make some noise in the county playoffs. Logo
