Fifth Squad detectives report the arrest of a Levittown man for attempted murder that occurred in Franklin Square on Friday, Jan. 23 at 6:27 p.m.
According to detectives, defendant Timothy Gersbeck, 37, of Levittown approached the 44-year-old female victim in front of her Claflin Boulevard home and pushed her toward the house. A brief struggle ensued when the defendant produced a screwdriver and stabbed the victim in the neck, police reported. The victim was transported to an area hospital and is listed in serious condition. According to police, the defendant fled the scene on foot and was apprehended a short time later on Fenworth Boulevard, in front of Raft Park.
Defendant Gersbeck was charged with Attempted Murder 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree and will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead, on Saturday, Jan. 24.
